Store of the Month - Julian's

As we are TarHeel born and TarHeel bred, we are delighted to call Julian's on Franklin Street home. The Chapel Hill community reveres Alexander Julian as an innovator in American fashion design and a university icon. Those who are unfamiliar with his bright personality and eye for color must visit the establishment itself to get better acquainted. Julian's has found themselves as "Purveyors to Carolina Royalty since 1942" so we find ourselves feeling both privileged and very blessed to see High Cotton Ties showcased in their tall windows on Franklin Street.

Spending most all his life in the fashion industry, Alexander Julian became the first American designer to design his own cloth in the 1970s. As he began to introduce the world to the art of incorporating exciting colors, varied textures, and intense detail into his fabrics, Alexander quickly became renown as the face of modern men's fashion and the "master of color".

Some might say that Alexander Julian sees the world differently, and thankfully so. Taking inspiration from his everyday life and surroundings, Alexander's signature patterns are seen as finely tuned and orchestrated reflections of art, using clothing as his medium. Alexander likes to avoid trends that come and go and always designs with the intention of keeping a timeless element in mind. We here at High Cotton Ties like to believe that we share that in common.
